Using komoot and thinking about switching? Here’s a plain account of what Resa Routes does differently, what komoot does that Routes doesn’t (yet), and how to bring your tours along.

komoot suits you better if you use Android, need offline maps, plan on a computer or plan multi-day tours. Routes can’t do that yet.

How to bring your tours

In komoot: open your profile, choose a route or activity and download the GPX file. It’s one at a time, and the region must be unlocked.
Put the files into one folder in the Files app.
In Resa Routes: Profile › gear › Files › “Import GPX files” and choose the folder.
Tours already in Apple Health are picked up automatically when you open Routes. If one is missing its route, it gets it from the GPX file.

According to its own help pages, komoot doesn’t currently offer an export of all tours at once.⁹

Is Resa Routes on Android?

No. Routes is built for iPhone and Apple Watch and uses Apple Health as its store.

Do my komoot highlights and photos come along?

No. The GPX file brings the route; highlights, photos and comments stay with komoot.

Do I have to cancel komoot?

No. You can use both side by side; Routes shows tours from Apple Health automatically.
